Ted is a Methodist lay-person who has filled many voluntary roles within the church and community, including Local Preaching, Pastoral Lay Worker working largely with older members, involvement with provision of community facilities and support for the elderly.

Since 2007 Ted has been employed by Methodist Homes as a Chaplain supporting residents, relatives and staff in elderly care settings in Leeds. Since 2011 those responsibilities have been extended to include supervision of chaplaincy services in schemes and homes across the north of England and liaison with various faith communities on behalf of Methodist Homes. In these roles Ted has been able to contribute to a number of research projects, publications, conferences, seminars, workshops, etc. sharing and developing understanding of aspects of ageing and faith, and good spiritual care.
