Improving spiritual and personal care of older people in Leeds and beyond.

Gaynor Hammond

Gaynor is a Baptist Minister. Her background is in nursing and for seven years she was in post as the Dementia Project Worker for ‘Faith in Elderly People’ Leeds.’ working with churches and health care organisations looking at the spiritual needs of people with dementia and how those needs could be met.

She has worked closely with Christian Council on Ageing, Methodist Homes for the Aged and other organisations. She has produced booklets on the subject of Spirituality and Dementia as well as a Training manual for Care Homes. She has also worked collaboratively with the Baptist Union of Great Britain to produce ‘Safe to Belong’ a learning pack on care of vulnerable adults in our churches

For the past fifteen years she has been in post as Regional Tutor for Northern Baptist College and Associate Pastor of South Parade Baptist Church in Leeds.

She has recently retired and has been spending more time looking at ways in which our churches can become more dementia friendly.
